Help the Ice Age Trail...Send Us Your Trail Photos!
The phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words" rings especially true when it comes to promoting a National Scenic Trail. If you've been on the Ice Age Trail lately snapping photos, Ice Age Trail Alliance staff members would love to see the results.
We're looking for a wide variety of Ice Age Trail images for the photo gallery above and other promotional materials, such as our quarterly magazine, Mammoth Tales.
Suggested Subject Matter:
- Natural beauty found along the Ice Age Trail.
- People hiking the Trail.
- Volunteers working on the Trail.
- Events portraying life in and around "Trail Towns".
- Trail scenery in all four seasons.
Guidelines:
- Digital images should be high resolution (in case we can also use the image in our print publications, with your approval) and in JPEG or TIFF format.
- If you are sending a print, please do not send your only copy, as we won't return photos.
- Be sure to include contact information (name, mailing address, phone number, email address) with your submissions. If we can find a good spot for your work, we will contact you to make sure the intended use is acceptable to you. You will be given proper credit.
Tips:
- For shots on the Trail, we really like pictures featuring people (hiking or volunteering) and, if possible, 2- by 6-inch IAT yellow trail blazes.
- For landscapes, you'll often get your best pictures early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when shadows are less harsh.
- For landscapes and other shots where there's no need to hurry, use a tripod to hold the camera still.
- If you're using a digital camera, make sure it's set to record images at the highest available resolution.
