Suggested Hikes

Every segment of the Ice Age Trail offers a unique and enjoyable hiking experience. Since hikers’ favorites change from season to season and year to year, establishing a list of "best" Ice Age Trail hikes is just about impossible.

However, recognizing the benefits of providing a list of hikes by theme, in our quarterly membership magazine Mammoth Tales we have started to provide recommendations of segments especially appropriate for a particular activity or well-known for a particular quality:

May We Suggest...High Points/Long Views (Fall 2009)

May We Suggest...Backpacking Hikes (Summer 2009)

Check back here quarterly to see new lists or, better yet, become a member to have Mammoth Tales delivered right to your door.

Additionally, here are a few other compelling hikes covered in the "Featured Segment" entry in recent issues of Mammoth Tales:

Segment County Region
Greenbush Sheboygan SE
John Muir Memorial Park Marquette SC
Loew Lake Washington SE
McKenzie Creek Polk NW
East and West New Wood Lincoln NC
Skunk and Foster Lakes Waupaca C

Up-to-date maps and descriptions of these segments can be found in the Ice Age Trail Atlas and the Ice Age Trail Companion Guide.
