Restoration Technician
Chris assists the Alliance’s Habitat Improvement Program with ecological management and invasive species control along the Trail.
Chris began working for the Alliance his junior year of high school after working on a dairy farm! As the seasonal and part-time Field Manager for SwampLovers Preserve, he managed the ecological development of the Alliance’s 433-acre property. What he enjoyed most during his time as Field Manager was the opportunity to learn new things and watch the land change and improve with each passing year.
In Chris’s current full-time and permanent position as Restoration Technician, he continues doing his very important work at SwampLovers, but he also takes on restoration work at additional Alliance-owned properties.
Overall, Chris assists the Alliance’s Habitat Improvement Program with ecological management and invasive species control along the Ice Age Trail. Specific duties include collecting and processing native prairie and savanna seeds, working with volunteers to complete Habitat Improvement projects, helping with tree and brush clearing, controlling invasive species through methods like mowing and herbicide application, and tracking habitat improvement practices. Chris is comfortable around all sorts of machinery and maintains the equipment used to keep Alliance properties in top-notch condition.
In his free time, Chris enjoys all things outdoors: hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, and visiting his family’s cabin up north.
