Hiking the Ice Age National Scenic Trail – REI Vernon Hills
July 29, 2023 @ 10:30 am - 2:30 pm
The Ice Age National Scenic Trail is a 1,200 footpath that highlights the glacial landscape features as it travels through some of Wisconsin’s most beautiful natural areas. One of only 11 National Scenic Trails, it is entirely in the state of Wisconsin. Ancient glaciers carved the path through rocky terrain, open prairies, kettle lakes, and peaceful forests. But it’s more than a path through the woods — it’s a place for mental and physical rejuvenation, a place to unwind after a hard day and enjoy the landscape of Wisconsin. More than 2.3 million people use the Trail each year to hike and snowshoe, to backpack, to disconnect and reconnect.
Join the Ice Age Trail Alliance to learn more about the history of the Ice Age Trail, how to best navigate the Trail, gather hiker resources and IATA support. Join us to connect with those who know the trail best, learn about the different ways to enjoy it, and how you can help protect this National Scenic Trail! The Ice Age Trail Alliance will be at REI Vernon Hills throughout the afternoon to sell IAT merchandise, sign you up for the Mammoth Hike Challenge, and answer any of your lingering questions.
