Land Stewardship: Spring Workday – Dane County Chapter
March 16 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
*** You MUST contact the posted workday leader listed below to make sure the workday location or details have not changed, as these events are posted in advance. ***
Description
We will likely be doing something awesome! We might still be cutting invasive brush and trees. However, spring is also prescribed burn season. Some of our workdays will be dedicated to preparing for burning by installing/updating burn breaks. Burns are weather- and other condition-dependent and take priority when they’re possible.
If the conditions are not right for burning, other activities open to all volunteers will be scheduled and posted as we get closer to each day. This may include prepping an area to be burned.
In late spring, the focus will shift to controlling invasive species like garlic mustard and wild parsnip with pulling and spraying.
We’ll post the details for work days as soon as we know them; to get the latest information sent directly to you via email, contact Megan Schliesman (schliesfrau@gmail.com) and ask to be added to our Stewardship email group. (Note: Megan cannot answer questions about workdays; she coordinates the list, not workdays.) Emails sent on the listserv will contain all the details for a workday, and you should contact the listed leader for any given workday with questions.
Volunteer Service Agreement
If you’re joining us for the first time at an event, please complete the fillable Volunteer Services Agreement Form and email it (along with any questions) to National Park Service, (iatr_vip_ice_age_trail@nps.gov). You should also complete the form if you don’t have a Volunteer Services Agreement Form on file, or completed one prior to January 2022.
