The Hike:
Explore the National Ice Age Trail with us! This month we will be hiking the Stony Ridge Segment near Eagle. This segment connects directly to the Blue Spring Lake Segment to the west and to the Eagle Segment to the northeast. Many enjoy it’s wide and gentle footpath and it is a particularly popular and well-traveled segment as the state forest headquarters and museum is located at it’s center.
The State Forest Headquarters is an interesting stop along the IAT. It has a museum dedicated to wildlife, geology, and local economic history. The display cases feature a number of artifacts found along the Ice Age Trail. A gift shop as well as flush toilets and a water bottle refill station are available there.
