Luke Kloberdanz

Executive Director and CEO

Luke supervises and controls all of the business and affairs of the corporation. His responsibilities include managing, planning, directing, administering, and evaluating all components of the Ice Age Trail Alliance programs, staff, and volunteers.

Luke’s involvement with the Ice Age Trail Alliance began in 2001 with a chapter-led trail improvement day. This experience led him to participate in the initial Mobile Skills Crew (now MSC) training in 2002 and take a deeper dive into Alliance and chapter-led trailbuilding efforts. Then,  in 2003 he embarked on a thru-hike along the Ice Age Trail. This immersive adventure further solidified his commitment to the Trail.

In 2013, Luke joined the Alliance staff full-time as Outreach and Education Manager. He immediately created the Saunters program, utilizing his background as a fourth-grade teacher to give kids an experiential experience of the Ice Age Trail.

In 2018, Luke transitioned to grant writing and soon accepted the position of Director of Philanthropy. He wrote many successful grants and fostered relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations furthering the Alliance’s efforts to conserve, create, maintain, and promote the Ice Age National Scenic Trail.

In 2023, Luke began his tenure as the Alliance’s Executive Director and CEO.

Luke graduated with a BA in elementary education from the University of Northern Iowa and an MS in educational psychology from the UW-Madison. He lives in Lodi with his wife Letha, sons Gus and Wynn, gnarly dog Hank, and a small flock of chickens.
