Ice Age Trail Crew

Ice Age Trail Crew events are large-scale Trailbuilding or Habitat Improvement events, which draw volunteers from across the state.

These multi-day events, which are coordinated and led by Ice Age Trail Alliance staff, accomplish a lot of work in a short amount of time.

As an Ice Age Trail Crew participant, you’ll work hard while having a lot of fun. It’s all about adding more miles on the ground, and you can be a part of it – even if you’ve never built trail before!

What to expect at
an Ice Age Trail Crew event

Come ready to learn and have a great time. At Ice Age Trail Crew events, crew leader volunteers teach fellow volunteers construction and maintenance techniques. Each event is tailored to the needs of the Trail segment, so you might build new Trail one day and upgrade signage the next.

No experience is necessary to participate in an Ice Age Trail Crew event. You’ll learn everything you need to know from other volunteers.

There’s a role for everyone. No matter your age or ability, anyone can help. And everyone is welcome.

“It’s some of the hardest, most fun, and rewarding work I’ve ever done. We all seem to have a common bond when it comes to building trail and protecting our natural resources. Volunteering for Ice Age Trail Crew events has taken me to areas of the state I probably would not even know about, let alone ever see.”
