About:
The Waukesha/Milwaukee County Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance started a new hiking series: Twilight Trail Hikes. These hikes take place on weeknights (moving to weekends in the fall/winter as the twilight hours get earlier with the cooler seasons). The first three summer hikes are on Monday evenings later in the month and near the full moon. No need to register, just show up!
Notice! There is a topic/theme for each hike. All are welcome to bring information, stories, and trivia to share before, during, and/or after the hike.
The Hike:
We are hoping the weather cooperates for this hike! For that involves our Discussion Topic/Themes: Weather and Mr. Increase Lapham; father of the National Weather Service…and so much more.
This hike will follow the Ice Age Trail to the Lapham Peak tower from the Evergreen parking lot. The tower is located at the highest point in Waukesha County at 1,235 feet height above mean sea level. From there we will return on the prairie loop and finish the hike back at the parking lot.
Details:
This hike is 3+ miles, with a difficulty rating of medium. Remember to dress appropriately for the weather, bring water and a flashlight/headlamp. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed and cleaned up after. Please bring water for your dogs as well.
Location:
We will meet at Lapham Peak’s Evergreen Shelter parking lot. Look for the IAT event sign as you approach this hike event.
